Time Period Syntax

The time period search consists of two fields, the "FROM" and the "TO" date:

Entering a Date

The possible ways to enter the date depend on the language version installed in the browser/operating system (sequence of day, month, year, separator etc.). For PCs set up in English (GB) this can mean that a date is entered in the following syntax:

1. Complete date

dd.mm.yyyy

2. Month/year

mm.yyyy

3. Year

yyyy

4. Century

19.Jh., 19.c or 19.s (Jh=Jahrhundert (German)) (c = Century) (s = siècle (French))

Dates before Christ

It is possible to search for dates in the area BC. Enter a minus sign before the date, e.g. for the year 1000 BC  "-1000".
