| Biographical information: | Friedrich Rudolf Staub (* 30. März 1826 in Männedorf; † 3. August 1896 in Zürich-Fluntern) war Gymnasiallehrer, Dialektologe, Lexikograph und Bibliothekar. 1862 begründete er mit Ludwig Tobler das Schweizerische Idiotikon, das er bis zu seinem Tod 1896 leitete. Bedeutung erwarb er sich 1891 auch als Initiator der Schweizerischen Nationalbibliothek. |
